BROTHER ANNIE IS KIND OF A WEIRD NAME, DON’T YOU THINK? My name (Annie) in Japanese (”Ani”) translates to “older brother”. Or if you want to get technical, I guess “own’s one older brother” would be more accurate. Thus: Brother Annie.
I’m currently studying abroad at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata City, Osaka, Japan. I’ll be studying here for the 2009-2010 school year. This semester (spring) I’m living in the Kansai Gaidai Seminar Houses (the dorms). During the fall semester I lived with a host family (the Ishibashi’s) who were absolutely amazing. They didn’t speak a word of English, so my Japanese was able to improve quickly. My host dad was a company employee, my host mom was a housewife, and I had two sisters, Yukie and Honami, in 3rd and 6th grade (respectively).
Not many people get to have this experience of studying in a foreign country–even traveling to a foreign country, and I’d like to share mine with anyone interested. In my opinion, we could all get to know our neighbors just a little more.
